Block 2 is one of the largest blocks in our neighbourhood watch system. It stretches the full length Valley Road, from the traffic circle in front of the Kronendal Retirement Village to its northern end at Longkloof. The area’s main boundaries are the Disa River, the mountain slopes at the back of Suikerbossie and the Orangekloof Nature Reserve.

This vast area is made up of various small suburbs, namely – Nooitgedacht, Victorskloof, Tarragona and Longkloof. Block 2 also includes 3 private estates – Stoneybrook, Avignon and Kenrock. The entire area contains over 600 properties.

03 Victorskloof

The Victorskloof neighbourhood watch membership is well supported and the area has a 7pm - 7am night patrol guard for five nights out of seven. Members are at kept up to date with regard to security issues in Victorskloof and neighbouring areas.

23 Longkloof

Longkloof is situated at the northern end of Valley Road. It has one entrance and exit point – Longkloof Road. The main boundary on the north side is TMNP, east side is the Orangekloof Nature Reserve and with Tarragona bordering on the West side.

The entrance to Longkloof has been boomed for the last ten years and is manned and monitored on a 24-hour basis by a private guarding company which is linked to the Watchcon network via radio.

There are approximately 63 properties within the Longkloof area, of which about 25 residents belong to neighbourhood watch and own a HBNW radio.

The HBNW radio holders have been organized by the Area Leader, Toby Adams to respond when required. These “first responders” will go to a pre-arranged spot to watch and report any criminal movement giving directional information via radio to patrollers, SAPS and SSP’s.

Longkloof has its own Residents’ Association and meetings are called when there are specific security issues and email alerts are sent to all residents on a regular basis.

24 Tarragona

Tarragona is situated off Valley Road just before the Disa River Bridge. It has one entrance and exit road – Garron Avenue – and only 3 other roads within the area. The main boundaries are Kenrock Estate, Longkloof and the mountain slopes of Suikerbossie.

Although it is not a private estate, Tarragona is fortunate to have a boomed entrance. This boom is manned and monitored 24 hours a day by ADT security guards. These guards are also linked into the Watchcon system via their own neighbourhood watch radio.

The area of Tarragona comprises approximately 36 properties, each property being a minimum of two acres in size. Of these 36 properties, approximately 16 belong to neighbourhood watch members. The majority of these members own radios and are always available to their neighbours when assistance is needed.

Tarragona residents meet about 3 times a year to discuss the various security issues within the area.

Adriaan Meerburg is the neighbourhood watch representative for the estate. Avignon Security Trustee is Greg Perks. There are 60 erven on the estate.
